Anxiety and new job

I've had anxiety for 2 years. It's been pretty rough with a breakdown of relationship with parent,an I'll child and dh as well as stressful house move and period of unemployment due to moving away from area and giving up job. I've now found a great job, which is higher level than I've had before and good pay.The company and boss are great as well as general working environment. But the anxiety is awful in constantly second guessing myself, constantly anxious and overthinking. I'm worried that if I can't get my anxiety under control it will affect work. I've tried CBT but that was just someone giving me datasheets they had printed out and read out to me. I'm waiting counselling on the nhs which could be awhile.Antidepressants did nothing for me and just made me ill.Has anyone experienced similar and what worked for you.

Hi! First of all congratulations for your new job!

I am in a similar situation professionally and so hope to have a new job too at some point. Regarding anxiety exercise and taking therapies really help me - repetitive movement, like walking, and music in my headphones so I listen to music whilst walking and not listen to the thoughts in my head .

Congratulations again! You are doing really well!

Thank you nice rad can and love the name. Can I ask what talking therapy entails.I feel that I'm trying the lot at the moment just to feel better.Distraction is good and find it useful at home but when I'm at work it's harder. If my boss gives me feedback on my performance I take it so to heart and I've asked for feedback in the first place😣 Fingers crossed for you on the job frount, don't give up pushing forward.

Morning Haveapip, how are you today? :)

By talking therapy I meant counselling - any type! Anything that makes us talk, as talking is physically good for anxiety as it's a kind of breathing exercise - and as many breathing exercises as you can! I just wish i was good at taking my own advice!

I am in work at the moment, on a temporary contract which expires at the beginning of 2020 and of course I am already in total panic about it and catastrophysing and applying for jobs somehow desperately. It is a great job although not paid very well - I travel a lot to beautiful places but I am not enjoying it because I am thinking of the damocles' sword over my head of the near end of it. I just need, like you, to learn to manage it and, as you say, keep pushing forward!!
