Does anyone else get panicked about going on holiday?

Or is just me? Sad I feel guilty to my family for not being excited.

I dread flying. I've tried a course, hypnotherapy, mindfulness. I won't take medication.

I hate being away from home.

Huge health anxiety panics me about medical care abroad.

All of it.

I count down the days to come home but I go for my kids. Anyone else? What helps you?

Not to the extent that you do but I'm not a massive fan and would rather be at home/holidaying in the UK. I will fly but I don't like it. I was fine as a child but have got worse as I've aged. I also think holidays are quite stressful in general, all the planning and organisation etc.

Why do you go abroad if you hate it so much? Would it not be better to holiday in the UK?

Love it when I get out of the door to finally go, but I think the anticipation angst (house clean, safe from burglars, animals ok, forgot passports etc) is normal.

Yes, worry about being ill before and during holiday, worry that I haven’t got adequate travel insurance, worry that it will be a disappointment etc

Once i’m There, i’m Usually fine. I think it’s a slight fear of the unknown.

We normally holiday in the uk. A few weeks ago I booked a holiday abroad for me and my 20 year old ds. It seemed like a good idea at the time as he's had a bit of a rough time and I need a break. He's really excited and pleased. We go on Saturday and I wake up every morning feeling sick with anxiety.

If I'd known I would feel like this I would never have booked it. I don't know if it's because dh can't come and I haven't been anywhere without him for 26 years. If that is the reason then that's quite pathetic. I feel anxious and stressed about a number of other things - things that it's more understandable to be stressed about so I don't know if that's affecting how I feel about other things.

I actually feel quite sick with anxiety at the moment. I hope it goes when we get there!

What helps me is being prepared. Making sure I take basic medicine. Also, looking around hearing about everyone else’s holidays is reassuring As I know it can be done. Also, I try to have something nice to look forward to afterwards, even if it’s just a trip to the cinema or meal out, so I have something to think about beyond the holiday.

Not at all. I love the planning and like to understand what I’ll be doing, how I’ll get from airport to hotel, local contacts etc.

Having a few health problems that have potential to become unpleasant, I would never travel without insurance and always research the best healthcare available. Most of the world has very, very good healthcare, if you are insured. I take a decent supply of medicines with me and a good first aid kit including sterile things if going somewhere less well trodden.
I enjoy flying but my husband doesn’t. We mainly sleep on longer trips.

I love going on holiday, but the few weeks build up to it are not good for my anxiety. I find the prepping stressful, packing for everyone, having the tickets/money/passports ready, arranging pet sitters, etc.

I usually spend the first few days of the holiday poorly, because I’ve been so stressed in the run up.
