Pregablin vs Sertraline anyone? Advice needed!

I have suffered with anxiety issues for years and prior to having my baby was on Sertraline for three years. It took me over a year to quit as I was so sensitive to the side effects. So while Sertraline worked, due to the very long tapering off and other side effects I am extremely reluctant to restart post-baby. I've been offered pregablin, which I have zero experience of either myself or knowing others who take it (Sertraline seems to be very common).

Amy experiences with pregablin - good or bad? How does it compare to Sertraline if you have taken both?

I have been on pregabalin and it worked very well. I have also been on sertraline and it didn't work. The side effects I got was weight gain and sleepiness. Because of the latter I stopped taking it.

Thanks bansku, I've heard pregablin can cause weight gain, which concerned me a bit!

Hi @hiccupgate I have been on pregabalin for the past 7 months. It was prescribed for nerve pain, for which it helps me brilliantly. I also suffer from anxiety and insomnia so I was delighted to find that it helps for this too. It slows down my anxious, racing thoughts and allows me to sleep. No weight gain. Only problem is notice mini withdrawals if I forget to take a dose, though this may be psychological...

PS I also have experience of Sertraline but it increased my anxiety and had some unacceptable side effects. Pregabalin feels much more gentle and doesn't take long to work

Thanks willow. Sertraline took a good few weeks and some grim side effects to kick in so if pregablin skips that, it'd be a bonus!
