As the title suggests just looking for some advice on what works well as I tried sertraline & found it sent me loopy & insomniac, escitalopram didn’t do much. I have anxiety & depression with crazy pacing & panic attacks. My psych has suggested Duloxetine but v scared to try it, currently just come off Mirtrazapine & not coping very well. Wondering if Pregablin or Fluoxetine ( Prozac) might help. Although I think Prozac is a SSRI. Just want to try gentler ones if possible.

Prozac is a SSRI. This page may help you www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/depression/in-depth/antidepressants/art-20046273

I've had a fairly good experience of amitriptyline. Not so much for the anxiety but it does lift the depression cloud.

Citalapram and sertraline made everything 100 times worse for me so I know how you feel, op. I have tried propranolol and buspirone with no side effects.

I cannot tolerate any SSRI’s for some reason they all make me very agitated. Was on duloxetine for a year at 60mg, worked well for me until that point then I crashed into a severe depression again. Gp tried to up my dose but it had no effect and made me feel far far worse so I decided to stop taking it abruptly which obviously isn’t recommended! I am now back on mirtazapine which was by far the best one for me personally but at one point it had stopped working which is why I ended up on duloxetine in first place. I had no bad side effects with duloxetine at 60mg it was just that it got to a point it suddenly stopped working for me but this isn’t unusual in my circumstances it’s happened with a lot of antidepressants. Duloxetine is definitely worth a try, everyone tolerates and reacts differently to medications.

Also venlafaxine is another snri like duloxetine if you haven’t tried that already it may also be an option? I was on it for about 6 weeks before duloxetine but was taken off it and switched to duloxetine due to the fact venlafaxine made me lose my appetite too much and I was already underweight so wasn’t a side effect I was happy with at the time.
