Contraceptive Pill & poor MH

DD(20) is struggling with poor mental health - mainly anxiety. She's very tearful, panicky, not sleeping well, lacking motivation (missed some Uni lectures) and describes herself as feeling 'down' and 'not in a good place'

As a child she has been generally well, with anxiety stemming from obvious triggers - exams, friendship arguments etc. Her present state isn't usual for her, as she has only been prone to mild anxiety in the past.

She has had some physical symptoms as well, mainly vomiting and nausea and constipation. These may or may not be linked and are being investigated.

I think her current state may be linked to when she started taking the pill, specifically Lucette.

She is seeing a Uni counsellor and GP, so we are going down that route. But does anyone else have any anecdotal experience of mental and physical symptoms like this from Lucette?

Could she be pregnant and not know?

Hormonal contraceptives make me angry and my mood low. It doesn’t seem uncommon.

The pill was awful for my MH, lots of anxiety and depression. I'm not sure about physical symptoms as it's a long time since I last took it but the MH symptoms were very clear and more than enough for me to stop after trying a number of different pills. It might be worth trying a different pill but I found all hormonal contraceptives equally bad

Hormonal contraceptives are a no-no for me. I've tried alot... dianette, cerazette, deprovera injection, mirena coil... a bunch more pills as well that I cant currently remember the name of 😂

I can't cope with it. As soon as I started taking it when I was 15 my mental health took a nose dive.

It wasnt until I came off them that I stopped getting depression. Been clear of both ADs and contraception for 3 years now. Never looked back.

My friend is the same. Can't cope with the hormonal treatments.
