DS: Section Review & Social Circumstances form

Have posted here before about DS missing from hospital - six times now in about as many months. He's in rehab now. So things looking up a bit. Thanks for all support during that difficult time.

Only today we heard that he's appealing (for the second time - first was unsuccessful) his Section though, this time, he'll be before a Hospital Managers' Panel. His care co-ordinator/SW, who is supposed to liaise with us but whose communication skills are non-existant, didn't tell us even though arrangements were put in place weeks ago. It wasn't even mentioned at the recent ward Review that we attended. It appears that DS is on another or an extended Section/Order (the old one was due to expire shortly) but again we weren't told. This is all quite odd as we are very engaged carers and see him everyday.

Anyway, a social circs report will need to be written by the SW in double quick time. The Panel meets early next week. He hasn't approached us for our input and in fact the last time, he rang and spoke to me for a couple of minutes only. I've now emailed him to say that we must talk, expressing disappointment in his complete lack of communication.

The thing is this - the 'nearest relative' is my ex who never sees DS but relishes the opportunity to stir and, even after all these years, lie through his teeth about me. The SW speaks to him and he sends in copious notes, vexatious and unpleasant. It's as if he's reliving the days, moons ago, of our divorce. But DS' carers are us - DH and me. There for him always in spite of all the difficulties and setbacks.

Anyone experience of this? Getting a care co-ordinator/SW to engage with you as a parent/carer and having your views reflected in a soc circs report even though you may not be, technically, the nearest relative? Thanks for any advice.
