I had suspected it, and have now had it comfirmed.

Can anyone who has been through this, or has an understanding of the condition, give me some guidance please?

This is a good website, gives you a better understanding of the condition.

I also have bipolar. Feel free to join the bipolar support thread. We’re a friendly bunch and hopefully you’ll get some useful advice from others Smile

I also found Mind really helpful and can't beat it for advice.

What I came on here to say is that DH wasn't diagnosed until he was in his late 30s, and while I'd obviously prefer it if he was well, his life has become so, so much easier since he's been able to recognise what's going on and deal with it via the right medication and coping strategies. You probably don't feel like it right now but I promise you getting a diagnosis is a good thing.

Thanks Moose I'll definitely check out the Mind website.

My dh has bipolar and wasn't diagnosed until mid 40s. Up to that he managed to go to college, medically train , work for years have a family etc . So all is not lost.
Most important l find is to take prescribed medication, keep to a routine as much as possible, take some exercise although medication can hinder that.
Hopefully he is getting proper medical care. Try not to see him as just bipolar as he is still your dear son same as he was before diagnosis.
