New job and anxiety

I've started a new job, and I love it, but my anxiety is off the charts. Everyday on the way in to work I feel sick to my stomach and shaky etc. I'm not sleeping either, though I am exhausted. Not long completed 20 weeks of Cbt. Any tips?

It could be stress.
Please contact GP to find out what is causing the trigger.
Mindfulness can be helpful and being around positive people who make you laugh Smile

Anxiety can be so hard to manage.
In my experience it’s important to try and understand exactly what is triggering the anxiety so that you can put steps in to help yourself manage it.
For example I used to get crazily anxious over going on training courses but it was actually because I was anxious of being in a closed room with strangers (I.e. I felt I couldn’t walk away from the situation, I knew I’d feel sick because I was anxious, then triggered fight or flight because I felt sick and was in a situation I felt I couldn’t walk away from).
I got better from a variety of mindfulness, meditation and practicing situations in my head so I felt more prepared for things.
If you get panicky I find that just accepting it will make it pass much quicker. I always tell my self in a chippy voice ‘oh look you’re having a panic attack, that’s not nice but it will only last a few minutes’ then I think of something else and just accept I’ll feel uncomfortable for a couple of minutes. Took a lot of practice but I promise you that it will get better.

Thanks all. I think it's the fear of making a terrible mistake that's causing it, and subsequently not passing my probation period..and I'm pretty sure I made a huge, huge mistake yesterday (on the till, and what could be a worse place?) so of course it's all I can think of. I have recently been diagnosed with Complex PTSD and undergone cbt for months..I have a follow up appointment soon, so will discuss with her..I'll have to try to manage it meantime.

Bless you! Hang in there, it will get better.
As for making mistakes, everyone does it. Your probation period is so that you have the opportunity to learn and so you have support from your employer to help you learn everything you need to - if you’re going to make mistakes this is actually the best time to do it! :-)
Till mistakes do happen all the time (trust me on this I’ve worked in retail for 20 years!) what’s important is if you know you’ve made a mistake tell someone so they can fix it :-)
Perhaps speak with your line manager and just ask how well they think your performing and if there’s anything you can develop further .... this may put your mind at rest, and if there are some areas you need to improve upon at least you’ll be clear on what they are so you can focus on them? I find my anxieties are all based on ‘unknowns’ as soon as I do know I am always able to deal with whatever life throws at me!
Starting a new job is a very stressful time, I do feel for you and it sounds like you’re really going through a lot so talking it through in your next meeting is a great idea & if you’re still struggling talk to your GP.
I really hope everything works out for you

Thanks ..I'm not quite so bad on the way to work now, seem to be able to manage it better..but..I'm really struggling with anxiety which is honing in on the possibility of not passing my probation period or being fired. I've made a few mistakes, but no one has said that that is even close to being a possibility, and I've had a good few compliments about my work too (though who knows how genuine)..but every day I come home and think "Will I have a job tomorrow"? Some days it's a background thought, some day overwhelming and it consumes all my time off.
