Had tribunal for PIP - got turned down.

Just came back from a tribunal to appeal against the DWP's decision not to award me PIP.

My DLA (for bipolar type 2) was stopped a year ago.

The tribunal was harrowing and I am upset and drained.

To have spent a year filling in lengthy forms and being assessed and to get nothing at the end feels just awful.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

I don't claim PIP anymore. I honestly think the stress of being on it and constant assessments, re-decisions and appeals was so draining that it wasn't worth it. I never had a tribunal, I just threw the towel in.

I don't blame you, Bumble. Sounds very sensible,

I think they've made it basically impossible on purpose so that people come off it.

Very true. Thanks, B.

I'm so sorry. Did they give reasons why? I thought PIP was meant to be better than DLA for mental health claims. (I'm going through a review myself)

I'm so sorry Grey ,did you have help with the forms & send plenty of evidence?

I have read that people get turned down at first but get it when reapplying.

Sympathies - it's a truly horrible prices to have to go through.

Which descriptors were you hoping to get points on?

Did you make it clear what percentage of the time you weren't able to do certain aspects of daily living?

Definitely reapply if you can bring yourself do to do. See if your local council have a welfare advice officer that can help you fill in the forms.

Greyeye · 05/02/2019 18:52

Thanks Hey - if I'm honest, I was confused by the points system...

Greyeye It shouldn't matter if you are working or not. Up until recently I have worked part time and have had DLA/PIP for the last five years. Have a look at this website: www.benefitsandwork.co.uk
