Hello,
I’m a student at the University of East London and I am carrying out a piece of research on postnatal distress.
The research focuses on the experiences of women who suffered some form of distress after the birth of a child (such as persistent low mood, anxiety, inability to enjoy previously enjoyable activities) and aims to shed further light into mothers’ attitudes towards seeking help.
I’m looking to interview women who experienced some form of distress within 12 months of giving birth. The child must at the time of the study be between 3-8 years old. I would be interested in the experience of women who either have had a formal diagnosis aswell as women who did not have a formal diagnosis yet believe they experienced distress.
If you would like to volunteer to take part in the study, which involves a one-to-one interview which lasts between 45 minutes to 1 hour in London, please contact me directly on my University email ([email protected]). I will be able to provide more details about the study. All results will be anonymised to protect participants' identities. You can contact my supervisor Dr Helen Murphy for further information about the research project ([email protected]).
My research has been approved by the University of East London’s School of Psychology Research Ethics Committee, meaning it follows the standard of research ethics set by the British Psychological Society.
Sincerely,
Ana
