What's wrong with me neighbour?

I know it's not possible to diagnose but wanting to see if this sounds familiar to anyone, and if there's anything a can/should do?

Every couple of nights he starts up, the walls are very thin and we can hear every word. "You're dirty, fucking scum, shit, shit, dirty" over and over sometimes sounds like more than one person but actually I don't think there is as I've never seen anyone go in or out other than him. He works shifts including night time so comes and goes at all hours.

It's quite frightening, there is banging and crashing along with the shouting. Can I request any assessment or support, or are people left to their own devices as adults? I don't know if it's a mental health issue, or drunken ramblings. It can last a few hours and according to another neighbour has been going on for years. Apparently the police have picked him up and taken him home for passing out drunk in the road before

I don't think I have the strength to talk to him about it, it could escalate or turn on us and honestly I don't know what is going on. I am concerned for him, but also would just really like it to stop. My DS isn't old enough to understand what he's hearing, but one day he will be and it's not good.

Obviously that should say "my" neighbour.

And I mention the shift work because this ranting can happen seemingly before or after he goes to work, which makes me think it's not drink related at least not just that.

Maybe he's on a chat line? For sweary people

Do you think he is asleep when this is happening?

CannyLad · 12/01/2019 08:21

No, clearly moving around between rooms. At first we thought it was DV, and were about to call the police but realised there's noone else there.

Sounds like he has a negative repetitive narrative with himself. Perhaps an anxiety disorder.
