Mornings - struggling

I work FT, have 2DC and I’m overweight and exhausted all the time. I obviously need to lose weight and get into a better routine but it is hard when I have no energy. Anyway, I am on Citolopram and once I am up and at work it is fine, but I’m finding waking/getting up and actually getting out of the house very hard at the moment. I am going in later and later (even if it is just 20mins - half an hour late) but it doesn’t set me up for a good day.

Is anyone else in this cycle? Is it common with depression?

Hi there, do you feel like the citalopram is working for you, dosage etc? Have you been checked out for other conditions (eg thyroid) to look into the exhaustion? Have you had any counselling or is there anything at work bothering you?

Verytired, I don’t know about the dosage tbh. I’m only on 10mg a day which is low I think. If I had my way I wouldn’t leave the house at the moment but it is responsiblities that force me out the door.

Yes I struggle worst in the mornings x

Bumble, how do you manage? Once I’m out of the door I can get on but physically getting out of bed and out the door is so hard some days.

Do you have to get up while it's still dark? I find that particularly hard, and in the past have used a SAD lamp and timed radio which was helpful. Worth checking in with your GP about Cit dose - I'm on 30atm, mainly for anxiety. I have a relative who changes dose according to season which might help if it's winter related. When I was really struggling with my anxiety, mornings and evenings were significantly worse in terms of symptoms and I think I read somewhere that this was not unusual.

FWIW it's great that you are managing to get out of the door and although it may be tough, it's probably better for you than being indoors all day. Are you doing anything else to manage your symptoms? I have found CBT, other therapy, mindfulness, yoga, other exercise are all helpful tools for staying on track... it can be hard to make the time but but I've never regretted it! Thanks

I've started counselling and tried to make mornings later so I'm not getting up in the dark so often.
It does seem to be helping most days. I know it's a good day if I'm up and out the door, even if I'm not "ready" the way I'd like to be, I sometimes come back and shower, do my hair, makeup etc. I think the important thing is just getting up and out.
I am trying to take 10 mins each morning to get my S**% together before waking the DCs but sometimes they beat me to it 🙄

Thanks all. I should get up in the dark and I’ve got a Lumie but I turn it off. I’m not doing much to help my symptoms like exercise but I know I should! I wish I could hibernate or take a couple of months off and get the house organised and get my health back on track but life doesn’t work like that!
