Just really really fucking anxious and don't know what to do

I woke up this morning, with a really anxious feeling, DP sent me back to bed for a little while and I am still really anxious, I am shaking and want to throw up.

I suffer from GAD, so in a sense am use to it but I usually have triggers, there is nothing that has triggered this, I had a lovely new year. I don't have anything to do today, its just a chilled day with DP and DS.

You poor thing. I know this feeling well and it's horrid. I have bouts of anxiety too - not diagnosed or medically treated but it's definitely real. I find magnesium really helps, to the point where if I don't take my supplement I can feel it building. I use the spray too which helps calm me down and slow those racing thoughts. I hope you find some calm soon. It really is an awful feeling. I'll be watching this thread with interest to see what others suggest to help deal with this too.

So, is there a wider issue that's going on in your life that could be lurking in the back of your mind?

sobeyondthehills · 01/01/2019 15:05

@SingingGoldfinch Thank you, I am trying to do my usual things to help it go away, wrapped up in a blanket getting loads of hugs from DS. But its just so horrible

@Chillspot. The only things I can think of is we spent slightly more than we should of done, but its not a major issue we have food, gas, electric etc just not got the bumper I normally like and I have finally received my PIP tribunal date so in a sense it could be that as its now this month/year instead of yesterday when it was next month/year

When I’m really anxious I find the most effective short term solution is to walk it off, or do some baking - ideally both. Walking or something physical (even housework, if it’s vigorous eg hoovering) to reduce the stress hormones, and then baking or similar activity to focus your mind and hands. Sympathy, anxiety sucks.

@awkwardsquad I am about to try giving the bathroom a really big clean. :)

Go for it! Get into all the crevices 👍

Hmmm... a PIP tribunal could be part of the cause I guess.

I'm sure you've already done this but just in case, a link I found on the web:
www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/sick-or-disabled-people-and-carers/pip/appeals/your-hearing/

How are you feeling now sobeyondthehills? Hope you've managed to calm down? From what you've said it does sound like you have a fair bit going on that might be making you feel anxious. Sometimes it just gets out of perspective doesn't it and things you're normally able to rationalise you just can't for a while. Maybe reading up on the PIP tribunal and doing what you can to prepare will help you to feel more in control?

Hi op, I can second what soupandsandwich has just posted. I have suffered from anxiety for years. A few months ago I saw an advert for a running group for people with anxiety & mental health problems. I fafffed about for weeks but eventually I went. I ran a mile, it felt amazing. I am by no means athletic but I did it and I can now run 3 miles. I go to park runs and everyone I have met there is so friendly and supportive. It is a great distraction and gives me something to focus on. I cannot believe how much better I feel I'm just a few weeks. I have previously accessed CBT but it didn't really help. Hope you are feeling a bit better this evening Thanks

Hi and thank you for all the replies

No, I am still fairly bad, but I do have a nice clean bathroom.

Just reading all the replies and I suddenly thought part of the problem is I am not doing the school run (about a 4 mile round trip, which we cycle) so am wondering if that could be part of the reason.

I have been reading up on PIP, although this is my 3rd date for it (other 2 were cancelled by the tribunal) so most of the prep work is done already. Just got to hope this one isn't cancelled.

Thank you for all the advice, it did help just to type it all out
