I'm hoping you might be able to help me make a decision on whether to mention this to my GP, in the sense that I wonder if anti-ds might help? i have 10 month old dd and have been back at work for nearly 10 weeks. since coming back, i have really changed - i'm intolerant, stressed out, anxious and generally knarcky (sp?). i am not sleeping well and consequently feel exhausted all the time. i have been off work for either 1 or two days at a time, 5 times in 10 weeks, with either dd or myself being ill. I have had swollen glands for 5 weeks now and last week, I lost my voice, it is only gradually coming back and my throat still hurts. i am often tearful at work and little things that normally wouldnt bother me are really upsetting me.

my dd is a delight but i am so tired and she is up early every day. dh is supportive but doesnt really understand how i am feeling.
can anyone suggest anything? i know i sound like a total whinge-bag and i apologise

poor you

you sound poorly and exhausted

what time do you go to bed?

nickytwotimes · 26/06/2007 19:44

you're probably really really run down. if you've got swollen glands and are unwell, you need to get looked over by your gp - probably viral, but go anyway. ads probably are not what you need though.
you do not sound like a whinge! i'm sahm with easy going 10 mo ds, and i am shattered. i take my hat off to you and all wohms for managing to hold down a job!

poor you! sounds like baby blues! adjustment is really hard..think about it...you have just had a baby (congrats by the way) and have gone back to work (maybe a little early?) its a whole new world for you so your bound to feel this way. is it possible to ask for extended leave? that may help you! xx

thank you for your replies. i have been to the GP today but it wasnt my usual one so i didnt feel i could talk much. i have been given antibiotics for my throat.
I go to bed around 9 usually but some days i just dont get things finished until a bit later (like tonight!!)I often wake in the early hours and then just as i drift off again, dd often wakes - she is an early bird!
i almost dread going to bed as i know that it'll soon be the start of another tiring day.
I wish i had taken longer maternity leave but i had longer than the 26 weeks we are entitled to (i dont work in the UK), went back when dd was 7 1/2 months. anyway, nothing i can do about that now.
thanks for listening to me though, it really helps.
