Weighted blankets

Any recommendations please? Thinking about buying one. My duvet is very fluffy and light. I remember having heavy blankets as a child and found them really cozy in winter. Thinking about treating myself for Christmas. Had a look around but most seem a tad pricey as such recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I recently got one for my son from Senso-Rex. I don't have anything to compare it to but he's happy with it!

Letsnotargue · 12/12/2018 20:36

We have a Rocabi one from amazon. It’s amazing. I previously tried to order from sensorex but they lost my order in the system even though they had taken the money. I would have tried them again but by the time it got sorted they couldn’t deliver in time.

They are very expensive aren't they.

I have a blanket on top of a light duvet that has the same effect. Got the blanket from Brookstone in the US so not much help on that recommendation I'm afraid!

My son has autism and has a weighted blanket but it’s pretty much ignored. We ended up buying him a high tog down duvet and I loved it so much we bought one too. Not hugely expensive, from John Lewis but I like the feeling of a heavy duvet and it hasn’t lost any of its weight or volume. Down or feather filled is the way to go

Had to laugh at this Amazon description:

"A Gravity Comforter for Adult Lonliness, Anit Anxiety & Couples In Long Distance Relationships. Get Hugged to Sleep & Feel Security & Relaxation"

do you have a therapeutic/health reason for thinking it will help? the place I got mine from www.sensorydirect.com had a declaration form so that if you have an official diagnosis of a condition for which weighted blankets are considered beneficial (autism, ADHD, anxiety and more) then they won't charge vat. they also offer a hire scheme whereby you get the blanket for 2 weeks and if it doesn't help you can return it, which is brilliant if you are wavering about whether or not it is worth it.

FluffyComet · 12/12/2018 22:22

I don’t have a condition I would use it for as such. I heard someone talk about them and I find the idea of a heavy blanket appealing rather than sleeping with a light duvet. Just don’t want to spend too much money to sleep under it for one night and find it’s not what I expected it to be iyswim.

Well you can still do the hire option at sensory direct even if you can't claim the vat discount.

I got this one in September and I like it

Gravity Weighted Blankets Great for Kids Suffer with Sleep | Heavy Blankets with Glass Beads (6.8kg for 55-100 kg Persons Individual, 122 x 183 cm,Grey) [[https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07BVZZGSS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_wbzeCbPG0WJ0?tag=mumsnetforum-215]]

I have Asperger’s and sleep badly (on meds) as well as suffering from anxiety and depression. I definitely like heaviness. Feels very odd without now.
