Hi

This might sound daft, but does anyone have any issues in there mouth and think it’s anxiety or antidepressant that’s may be causing it .??

Didn’t want to say, wanted people to says there’s if any?

My anxiety is high at least 6/7 days at some point through day,
Like today my mouth gums,
Also have constant ache in chest

Anxiety can cause you to grind your teeth during sleep, leading to some of the symptoms you describe OP. Speak to your dentist who will be able to confirm if this is what's happening and recommend a mouth guard.

How’s your diet? Are you drinking enough water? How about your self care, are you brushing your teeth?

I get aches and pains in my mouth & face specifically my jaw and teeth due to stress - my muscles in my jaw are incredibly tight and it causes all of this.

I saw a chiropractor (after useless GP!) and she gave me exercises to do and showed me how to massage the muscles to relax them. Really helps!

My lip twitches when I'm particularly anxious and I push my teeth together (not grinding just really push my jaws together) as well. I once couldn't believe I was doing it so I put my tongue between my teeth and then regretted the decision when my tongue bled Confused

Are you on any meds? I h

Grumpbum123 · 02/12/2018 14:12

I get a really dry mouththe dentist has given me a higher fluoride toothpaste, I always have a bitter taste in my mouth and Sertraline gave me bruxism

BuffaloCauliflower · 02/12/2018 14:18

I was on lithium for years which does cause a dry mouth, my teeth are quite damaged particularly from that, dry mouth and similar symptoms are quite a common medication side effect.

Aaaahfuck · 02/12/2018 14:57

I've been on ssri's for 5 years I recently changed from citalopram to sertraline. I think a dry mouth is a common side effect.

granadagirl · 02/12/2018 15:35

That should of read dentist checked mouth out No problem , no grinding

I’m on venlafaxine been on it 7 years
Before that cipralex no mouth issues with that
Started menopause in whilst on venlafaxine, which hasn’t helped one bit with massive anxiety symptoms

These symptoms are throughout the day/evening.
I can cope with dry mouth. It’s the sore tongue and gums

Dry mouth can be a symptom of anxiety. Might be worth seeing the dentist to see if they can suggest anything for your guns and tongue.

The reason I asked is because I have two separate sets of things that are to do with anxiety that go on with my mouth and I wasn't sure what kind of answer you wanted.

FWIW when I have a panic attack I often get a shooting pain across the roof of my mouth between my back teeth. Otherwise I find when I feel stressed my teeth and jaw can ache because I'm clenching my jaw in my sleep.

My bro has bad anxiety & contains a lot of jaw pain, which sounds quite similar to your experience. At times it really bothers him. The thing that I get when I'm really stressed out is a kind of chattering in my teeth when I feel like I can't control my mouth or speak properly or everyone will hear my trek knocking together. I reckon anxiety can affect literally every part of you.
