Self care days

Today, after being poorly with the flu for nearly a week now, ive decided to take a self care day.

I had a list as long as my arms of jobs etc, but I just need to rest and get better.

I've come home from dropping the children at school and I've been snuggled down lay on the sofa watching cheesy Christmas movies, snacking and drinking hot water.

I plan to actually stay like this for a good couple of hours until I pick the babies up and start mumming again.

I've been reading a lot about self care and it's importance of late so felt it was time I tried it properly.

My mental health is beginning to improve of late so now I'm taking the next steps.

What are your go to self care actions?x

I read 80% of a book yesterday. didn't do much else..... It felt so good, Ive really struggled to read much over the past few years. Self care is so important.

enjoy your day today op

@ihatethecold I love reading, I've lost the spark a bit of late but I'm working on getting it back. Been reading a few pages when I can. The only problem with days like these, it makes me tired. I'm gonna have some fresh air though at some point today x

Ive been reading Danny Baker's Depression is a liar on my Kindle. It's very easy to read and I'm interested in the subject.
My Dd 15 has MH issues and helping her has been very stressful at times so i'm learning to be a little more careful because it does affect me when she is unwell.

I'm also in my second year of training to become a Counsellor so its all good learning to read up on personal insights.

Are you reading anything at the moment Op?

@ihatethecold that sounds interesting I will have to give that book a go.

I have a Christmas book my sister bought me (I'm mad about Christmas) which I've started slowly reading again. I went right off again in the evening so dozed on the sofa until bedtime.

It sounds like you're a wonderful mum helping your daughter. Mine is around the same age and she suffers from severe anxiety, the PPE tests she's just done have been awful for her but we've got her through them and she came home a different person yesterday after her final one. Will be celebrating at weekend with her.

This might sound strange but I want to thank you for doing the training you are. I waited 8 months to get an appointment with a CBT councillor from the initial assessment and I became so much worse. Today after a good few sessions, my MH is improving and I'm taking time for myself which is a thing I was struggling to do. The wait for councilling in my area is so long but to hear other people are training is giving me hope that others won't wait as long as myself and that you will be helping others in no time xx
