I’ve been on various antidepressants for years and have been on XL vensir 150mg for a couple of years. It works well but it worries me that i get withdrawal symptoms even after half a day - I feel like I’ll be stuck on it forever. Has anyone successfully cut down on this drug? My doctor reluctantly gave me 75mg to try.. twice a day at first .. but she was reading that off a screen she wasnot mental health specialised.
I wanted to see if I was ok on a lower dose .. probably won’t be but just wanted to try !!

Why come off it if it works?

Sometimes I feel worried to have to rely so heavily on medication. I know that sounds stupid. And I also worry about health effects long term.

If your doing well on it with no anxiety/depression personally I’d stay on it. If you were diabetic or had thyroid problems you would have to take meds all your live
And nobody knows what they do to your body.
I get what your saying as there mh drugs and you think brain.
150mg isn’t high dose, I’m on 187.5mg just upped from 150mg Effexor 8 weeks ago and only just settling now.

If your determined to come off I’d only ever drop by 37.5mg at the most and leave it 2/3 mths before next drop
Are you on tablets or capsules?

Thanks for your reply
That’s true about the diabetic etc medication . . I still do suffer with depression half the time I would say but I think it’s related to PMS. I seem to tick a lot of the symptoms for PMDD so another reason why I should not come off !!
I take the slow release capsules .

Also interesting about the 37.5mg , I didn’t know it was possible to get it in those amounts.

Would certainly take a while to taper down I was interested how people found tapering down, say if they wanted a baby etc.
