Citalopram and sex life?

Just wondering if it's just me or if it's a side effect of citalopram- my sex drive has almost disappeared and when I do have sex it takes me ages to orgasm

Not just you, it's the main reason I came off it to be honest. Unfortunately I can't recommend any other meds as I haven't been brave enough to get myself back to the doctors yet...

Not just you - three friends now have said the same (not all at once!). It's a shame since it worked well otherwise for the MH side, for them. One said it got her out of the depression hole, but once she was happy enough to have sex again but kinda failed, it set her back temporarily until she discovered it was a common side effect.

Back to the doctors for something else, I'm afraid. Good luck! The different SSRIs can have different side effects but the MH results are generally much the same.

Oh balls. I'm on it for anxiety but the sex thing is making me anxious 🤦🏼‍♀️
I've been on anti depressants in the past and they have never affected my
Sex drive.

I found my sex drive did go down.

But my ex kept pestering me into sex during the times I was on it so that made it worse.

Don't let anyone pressure you whilst you're on it. It is what it is. They need to be patient.

Pretty much all SSRI type antidepressants have that effect. They're known for it. I won't even entertain them anymore. For supposedly having fewer side effects, they can sure do a number on your libido.

i've never found an ssri that hasnt done it :(
