I've suffered from health anxiety for many years, the last 5 years since dd was born has become more severe. I'm constantly worrying about everything, it's even turned into slight social anxiety. I feel so alone, my family doesn't understand. I'm currently on a waiting list for cbt.
Does anybody have any self help techniques they can put forward for me?
Recently tried rescue remedy as the reviews was fantastic, does appear to have calmed me down slightly, not quite sure If that's more physiological

Hey there darling. I've suffered on and off for 10 years. Although it got significantly worse after my ds was born. I take 40mg citalopram and 30mg mirtazepine every day.

Hi, try and wait for the CBT it really helps. I used Calms and Rescue Remedy but the thing that helped most was Hypnosis. Five years is a long time to feel anxious so don’t expect to be fine overnight, when I look back it was three years coming on and about three years getting back to normal again. Google anxietysocialnet.com. Good Luck.

Exercise can really help - start slowly so you don't panic yourself by getting too out of breath. If you're able to leave the house walking is the best way to start. Set yourself rules around googling, checking symptoms etc. Remember that the media is out to scare you.

Be realistic - I had a breast screening yesterday (just the age-related one but still...) AND I have a cough that won't go away - and I've just accepted that the combination is totally overwhelming my coping mechanisms and there's no point beating myself up about it. Remember that "normal people" have worries about their health too!
