Why won't they admit me?

I have had a particularly stressful several months and for the past 2 weeks have been struggling even more. I have several diagnoses, and I know I must be bad because I actually want admitting. It scares me to be admitted but at least I will know I am safe. So why won't they listen?

2 attachments the first one is on MH medications which you can discuss with CPN, Psychiatrist and/or GP as needed. Do a bit of research into the side effects of each one and compared to whatever symptoms are possibly causing your physical health problems there may be more options to you.

The second pic is a cheat sheet in relation to self-sabotage and a possible way around it in spite of your best efforts. Cos you are worth it (swishes hair)

@smurfy2015 . Hope your visits to A and E weren't serious, talk about them here if you wish.
I saw an endocrinologist on Saturday about my physical health problems but have to wait for a MRI scan before they can plan any further treatment or get me to discuss coming off antipsychotics with the physiatrist, but I will make sure I am well informed about what my options are. The chances are I could manage without them but maybe not something for me to try at the moment.
My husband and son appreciated the night without me, I had an early night and a good lie in before coming home.
I haven't drunk alcohol, and know that I won't now on the medication the GP gave me. It's worked really well for me in the past and hopefully will only be a short term measure. I used to go to a support group for alcohol addiction where we used to live, but have never felt the need to here.
I like the self sabotage resource you linked to, I will try that if I ever get a quiet 10 minutes.

I have cellulitis in both legs at the minute so intense courses of antibiotics once we ruled out what i feared when i went to a&e and the dr agreed with me, thought it was DVT but thankfully a scan ruled it out :)

Glad your physical health is being looked after, MRI scans are good, I usually fall asleep, Ive had 5 in 18 months. I actually had orthopaedics appointment this afternoon so got on really well there.

Have you joined any support groups, there are some good ones on FB which are closed so no one can see what you post and it wont come up on your wall but Ive found good support thru them.

Sorry to hear about the cellulitis, sounds like you're having a rough run with your physical health.
I have joined some support groups online, mainly for support with my son.
Feel like ending it all tonight, I was ok this morning but my mood rapidly spiralled this afternoon. Is this ever ending?

Are you ok now?

mrsbounceisflat · 02/08/2018 22:09

Still having suicidal thoughts and other scary things. I am as safe as I can be things locked up, removed from the house etc.
I spoke to the CMHT today and they were very supportive and have an appointment with them tomorrow.

Oh dear. Have you asked to be admitted? May be worth asking? X

mrsbounceisflat · 02/08/2018 22:22

I've asked to be admitted but they don't think it's the best place for me. I see the psychiatrist next week, but know what the answer will be.

Why not? What youre going through sounds awful.

mrsbounceisflat · 02/08/2018 22:37

Apparently the psychiatric unit is full of drug addicts and wouldn't be restful, but at least I'd feel safe there.

@mrsbounceisflat sorry to hear all this, depending on what part of the country you are in, is there any option for a Crisis house or being admitted "under home treatment team" so they are seeing you at least daily, referring you to 1-2-1 support worker or calling the duty worker of the day each day to tell them how you are and what help you need.

You can also ask about being admitted to a different ward like the elderly ward although that has its own difficulties too.

My very first psychiatrist thought that an acute ward would scare me so had me moved from a general hospital at 3am to an elderly ward which turned out to be elderly mentally infirm so all Alzheimer's patients. I was 15.

As you are finding it hard to keep safe, keep telling them in every convoersation even if it means repeating it over and over,

Have you linked in with GP as well to let them know how this is and how you are asking for help and feel you need admitting but are not being listened to

I can't go to hospital now as we go on holiday in a week, which should be interesting, but it is somewhere we go regularly and I usually find it relaxing.
I see the gp on Tuesday and the psychiatrist on Wednesday, so it's time for a good long chat and some complete honesty.
I have thoughts of harming myself and others regularly. I don't think I'd do it, but it's pretty scary.

  1. There are no beds- literally done last week in whole of uk including private sector
  2. Inpatient wards are now full of very unwell people as the threshold for admission is high. This makes the environment untherapeutic for those with depression, anxiety etc
  3. Admission is not the best option for those with a diagnosis of EUPD. Those with this diagnosis become very difficult to discharge and have attachment issues. A group of people with EUPD on 1 ward can also be risky as they plan self harm and suicidal acts together and learn risky behaviours from each other.
  4. Removing those in crisis from the community due to social issues eg housing, debt, relationship breakdown rarely works as the problem is often still there on discharge

I work as a CPN- we carry a LOT of risk these days in the community as the bed situation is so dire.
