Sertraline

Evening. Just come off sertraline after 12 months. I transitioned off slowly over the course of about 3 months and it has been 3-4 days completely without now.

I feel so completely and utterly drained, like my body is too heavy and I am on about 3% battery. It's even worse than first trimester pregnancy exhaustion.

Anyone else had this? Just trying to convince myself I'm not dying... Confused

Is that the pattern recommended by the GP? Should you perhaps go even slower?

SharonBottsPoundOfGrapes · 31/05/2018 20:21

I've just started on Sertraline (3 days now). I'm on 50mg. I'm hoping they help me. I feel so low and useless. I have no sex drive.
Do you have to come off them eventually? I'm worried I'll stasrt to feel normal and they'll be taken off me.

Yes, done as advised by GP. Reluctant to start taking it again now after 4 days completely off. But can't go on like this.

Sharon they were a lifeline for me. It made me feel myself again. You don't need to stop taking them for a long, long time if you don't feel you want to. I wanted to as I felt lots better and wanted rid of a few (mild) side effects. Good luck.

Ask a pharmacist whether it would be ok to take half the last dose, maybe every other day?

SharonBottsPoundOfGrapes · 31/05/2018 20:28

You don't have to answer right now but can you (or anyone else) tell me what it was that made you seek help (medically), how long did they take to work and the side effects. I've looked up other threads and was about to start my own so was pleased to see this thread.

alltalknobaby · 31/05/2018 20:28

Think I might do that. Thanks.

Sharon it was post natal anxiety and depression for me. I don't remember how long they took to work completely but I think I started to feel improvements after a few weeks. I struggled with the side effects - headaches, sickness, interrupted sleep - but they eased off after a few weeks. Longer term, they affected my sex drive negatively and gave me night sweats but both were quite mild and totally worth it for the positives.
