But i feel so guilty for it. I'm signed off for a month for anxiety and stress. I don't know if I can look my team in the eye when I go back. I will have missed lots of deadlines while I'm off. I have always, always put other's first and sacrificed my own health for it, now I need to think about myself and my well-being .... But i still feel terribly guilty

Please don't feel guilty (hard to do, I know). This is time to focus on getting yourself better and stronger, and there's nothing more important than that Flowers

Hi there,
You sound worn out and exhausted from doing too much.
The team will survive. What is most important, is that: you take a step back and rest and do your best to recover.

Been in your position my dear. I understand the guilt. However, work will still be there when you return. The deadlines ultimately are your employer's responsibility and they will have to cope without you whilst you are unwell. If you'd been in a car accident or had an operation or broken your leg and were incapacitated with that they would have to cope just the same.. Signed off sick is signed off sick.. With no expectation that you will work. Look after yourself, be kind to yourself and focus on your recovery.. One day at a time. If your company occ health offer counseling, use it. If they don't but you can afford it, seek it out. I found after I'd settled down a bit, doing things to boost my wellbeing and serotonin levels were worthwhile. I took a pedicure in the next town (I didn't want to be seen.. Wrong of me but the only way I could cope), I bought a paint by numbers which really helped. Engaging the right creative brain rather than the left logical over thinking anxious brain is a very good thing to do. On YouTube, find 'nhs relaxation'and get into the practice of doing this at least once a day. You will get through this Flowers

How are you doing OP?

Peachsnowpop · 15/04/2018 22:31

Thank you for all the support and kind words xx

Been trying to take time out for me while I'm off and generally cutting back on doing as much. I still don't feel myself.

#Whatsitfor - not really sure what finally led me to my gp, think it was just feeling down and not myself plus heart palpitations which scared me. I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. Big Hugs to you xx

Wishing you all the best 🌺 i’ve been signed off work for 3 weeks with ‘work related stress’, I knew I wasn’t coping and kept asking my manager for help, they took some work away from me, but it wasn’t enough and I was told organise my work better. I finally realised it was too much and I was so stressed with no sleep and obsessive thoughts I went to the doctor. Now I’m worried when I go back to the Doctor in a few weeks he will say I’m ok and i have to go back to all that stress! But I know I’m not ok, but i just hide it all the time because I feel i should be able to cope! X

I’m on the verge of having to do this myself but don’t think it’s work related stress so not sure if it would actually help. I almost like the distraction of work. But from a business perspective it’s probably not good for them for me to be there.
