Have been prescibed these - anyone had any experience of them? A bit scared to start taking.

i've been on it for 6+ weeks now, the first 2 weeks were rough, lots of insomnia and increased appetite.
i think they are helping though sometimes i feel more numb than i would like and i dont get as emotional (crying when i usually would, like during a row with dh.) - i've gained over a stone :I but my GP isnt keen to switch my Rx as it's helping me mentally more so.

just keep track of your moods etc. and take them in the morning as it can sometimes increase your energy in the early days.

americantrish - you say that you have gained a stone - is that through eating or just taking the pills?

Hi Lolly68, I just came online to find out about this drug which I was prescribed yesterday so we are in the same boat. I went to the doc about something I thought was the matter (terrible at self diagnosis) and she suggested these tablets to help me to 'see through the clouds to the light at the end of the tunnell'. I popped my first one at 9am today and can't say I feel anything yet! I was very scared of taking them and have done some research on the web on Google typing in the drug name and that has helped me to understand a bit more about how they work and what to look out for.

I feel relieved that someone has taken charge of the situation and given me a chance to balance out my moods and not be so anxious or stressed. I finally feel like there is a chance for me. I really hope it works for you (and me) good luck.Let me know how you get on. Saffymum

lolly> the pills. i've been monitoring my food intake since i've been on them and it's not changed (other than the occasional ice cream, sweet, etc., but that's nothing different than before i was on them.) i also gained weight when i was on a different AD when ds was 8 months old..:I - so now i'm trying to tackle the weight gain since that won't help my depression (although exercise can help some feel better!)

Lolly68 · 22/05/2007 11:00

I am taking them as well because I get so stressed out plus was cyring over things I never use to. The 1st one I took knocked me for six after a couple of hours - so be prepared. Good luck to you too.

Well I exercise everyday so hopefully I wont gain any weight. That's one of the reasons I was down in the 1st place - dont want to put on any weight whilst taking AD's!

i definitely dont feel as high-strung as i did before taking them. do have lack of sex drive, but to be honest; i had that before taking the pills.
i told myself as long as i dont go over 11st5, i'll be ok. but working on losing it before my birthday in july.

exercise releases happy hormones so good for you for doing it daily!

americantrish · 22/05/2007 11:05

the majority of my exercise comes from going out and about with my son and running around the garden, which is something i guess! (would love to join a gym proper though!)

Prozac and Fluoxetine are the same drug.

saythatagain · 23/05/2007 11:35

Today is my 6th day on these and I feel really rotten; nausea and headache. Fingers crossed this won't last long but quite honestly, if it does for a couple of weeks, I'd still rather keep taking them if it meant I would feel better emotionally. I'll keep you updated!

Lolly68 · 23/05/2007 11:50

saythatagain - that's how I felt. I'm now on 10th day and feel a little bit better but can't stop yawning!!

I'm so looking forward (hopefully) to feeling calmer, less anxious/depressed/tearful...I could go on! I hope my anticipation compares to the actuality of it.

been taking fluoxitine for a while and things are good. I can stop and think before re-acting in the wrong way. My relationships with DH DD DS DD DS are much better. The only problem I have is I am a bit too easy-going and care-free. My DH has noticed a big improvment. I am worried about coming off them and going back to how things were.

notasheep · 05/06/2007 22:28

Why are you taking them?

saythatagain · 06/06/2007 08:47

I agree with what you're saying about becoming easy going - for me, I thinks its marvellous after virtually 3 years of feeling so very anxiety-ridden and stressed out over the slightest mishap. I would like to think that after a period of time I could stop using them but I'm not overly concerned as the 'payout' is so positive for me.

Lolly68 · 06/06/2007 09:29

I'm into my 4th week of taking them now and I must admit I feel the same too. Whereas before I would completely fly off the handle over the slighest thing I dont anymore. Things are much better with DP too apart from no sex drive!!

Hi Lolly! What is your doseage? I'm on 20mg but am wondering if I should try going up to 40mg...only to see if I can rid myself totally of the anxiety, which probably doesn't make sense but I know what I mean!

Lolly68 · 06/06/2007 16:45

I'm on 20mg too. Took a while to get use to them but all ok at mo. Going doctors on Friday to get more cos he only gave me 30 day supply.
