Has anyone found that no meds work fir them? I am Just so fed up as no medication seems to work and I know I need something. I have had GAD for many years and have failed to find anything that works :( Citalopram was horrific and I couldn't sleep for 3 days after taking it! Mirtazapine is great for helping me sleep but tried for 6 weeks and my anxiety got worse, Sertraline was good for anxiety but I ended up putting on 2 stone, my cholestrol went sky high and it exacerbated my arthritis, finally I tried Prozac, couldn't sleep for a month and was like a zombie, which I can't have as I work full time. Please share your stories with me. I have also tried 5 htp, yoga and meditation and they do help but the anxiety is still single debilitating.

Have you tried DBT (dialectical behavior therapy)? It's very very useful as a mechanical self-soothing technique. This book is a great way to start if you can't get a referral. Also try Omega 3's and Vitamin D in addition to Magnesium.

And medication-wise how about Lamictal? It doesn't have the side effects that the other drugs have (weight and cholesterol), but very rarely can be deadly, so must be titrated up very very slowly (over several months), so many doctor don't use it as a first choice. My ds is just getting titrated up on it now and so far it's looking good.

Another one for magnesium, definitely can have a relaxing effect. I have also heard DBT is great.
Another helpful book for anxiety that I've used is 'When Panic Attacks' by Dr David Burns, really helpful CBT exercises you can do on your own at home..I probably drive people round the bend going on about his books, but can't help it, they're amazing! Blush
