Swapping tablets

Hi, could really use some help if anyone has any advice. Sorry for the length of this but I don't want to drip feed.
I'm due to go to Dr's this week to discuss.

Been on citalopram 40mg for a year, started just after having my DD.

I had been on them previously about 15 years ago while studying at uni, for a year just, and they helped enormously with anxiety/paranoia/worries etc. The effect was like a switch and for the first time in my life I realised this was what it was like to feel 'normal'. I felt so balanced for the first time ever.

This time, although they helped with anxiety and for a while I felt ok. I didn't ever get the effect I got the previous time. I just put that down to the fact that I was dealing with extra pressures of new motherhood, sleepless nights etc and carried on as I was a bit better than without them.

Since I returned to work after my mat leave though, things have taken a nose dive. I work in a very high pressure environment in a professional role and my worries, paranoia and anxiety have returned. As well as feeling like my short term memory is awful and levels of concentration extremely poor.

I have tried to eat well and mindfulness etc as well as exercise but I just can't seem to settle my mind and keep getting racing thoughts. One of the main symptoms I had without the pills.

I think my GP will swap my pills, but what to? She may ask which ones I want to try, as she asked this time when I went back on citalopram, if I had any in mind I would prefer to try.

I am TERRIFIED of increasing any symptoms, I feel I am only just holding things together at the moment. I have to keep functioning and be present at work.
Is it possible to do this when crossing over tablets?
Has anyone any positives outcomes they can share with me? Or any advice when talking things over with my GP. As well as any suggestions of suitable tablets.
Thanks for reading x
