I spent most of my shift last night crying. Just couldn't stop. Big splashy tears on all my paperwork. Everyone assumed I was having a particularly bad shift but it's not that. I'm just so fucking sad. Everytime I woke up today it started again. Now I'm trying to get ready for tonight's shift with tears pouring down my face. How do I get through 12 hours like this?

I'm in a pretty crap place mentally myself right now so I'll probably be no help to you. Hand hold from me. How long have you been feeling this way?

You need to see your GP and get signed off for a bit

Maybe it might help if you explained a little about why you're sad...?

Why are you sad?

Definitely speak to your gp, is there anything at work making you sad?

Could the fact it is winter at the moment be having an added impact? I have had a history of mental illness (depression) and continually slept most of days and nights and was so miserable, I was a lot lot worse throughout winter period, sun really helps maybe look into a sad lamp if you think there could be a link?

Have you spoken to a doctor about it? I was like that and turned out my hormones were all out of wack, I'm on sertraline now :)

Well I managed to get through the shift, not without many many years, including a full on sobbing episode in the staff toilet. I know I need to see the GP, I know I need some time off work, but I've just had 2 weeks off with flu, so can't have any more time off. I'm struggling to see a way out.

Get your butt to the doctor, being off for you doesn't mean you shouldn't get help. Do as i say missy, off to the gp with you xx
