Schizo-affective disorder- new diagnosis

I have been newly diagnosed with schizo-affective disorder by a psychiatrist.

I have the mood & psychosis symptoms and I take anti depressants & anti psychotics.

I still work 3 -4 days a week.

Does anyone else have this disorder or have any friends/ relatives with it?

Nc for this, don't want identified.
I have been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, but now they think it's actually schizo affective disorder. Depression, anxiety, OCD, ptsd.... a whole friggin alphabet basically.
How are you feeling since diagnosis? It can be quite an emotional rollercoaster in itself finding that what you are suffering with, actually has a name. I've been through quite intense emotions when I've been diagnosed, from disagreeing to the decision, to acceptance and realising I'm not alone with it.
Sadly I'm unable to work, but it's good that you can.
Do you have any friends/relatives you can discuss this with in real life?
I'm very bad at opening up and sharing, although I am trying.

I was diagnosed with depression, psychosis & BPD 'traits' but now he says it's schizo affective disorder.

I don't feel too upset as I'm quite well at present & the meds are working - no-one would guess my diagnosis if they met me now.

I do feel anxious & vulnerable as I told my psychiatrist about some of the horrible thoughts I'd been having before my anti psychotic was increased.
He was probably a bit shocked but hid it well. I spoke to the duty worker earlier who said that most people are very open with him & im feeling bad as I'm not used to being honest about my problems.

I can only really discuss it with my sister as my Mum & maybe my friends would be wary of me having a diagnosis that sounds like schizophrenia.

Catrina - is your diagnosis dementia? I guess that is a worry for you.
Hope you have enough support in real life.
