Citalopram - anyone else just started?

Just started on 10 mg a few days ago, and am feeling sooooo sick.

Was talking to a mental health practitioner today and they said I scored in the severe anxiety and severe depression zone, which surprised me as I don't think I'm as bad as that.

Has anyone else just started who fancies chatting?

You'll feel better soon. How's your breathing?

CheckpointCharlie2 · 19/12/2017 06:38

It's not the worst but every few mins I'll find myself wanting to do a deep breath and then feeling the fear when I can't. It's so annoying because it went away for a few days and then came back!

Have you tried yoga? No doubt you practice mindfulness?

CheckpointCharlie2 · 19/12/2017 20:44

Yep do meditation (recently) and am about to start Pilates so similar. Looking forward to it, I did it a couple of years ago and really liked it. Feeling bit better again today and am now on holiday! Yeay!

Hope you keep feeling better

jammytoastinbed · 19/12/2017 22:26

Yes.

I started a few months back and hated it so stopped.

Then had a very stressful event and was struggling so gave it a bash and have been ok. But I think I felt so awful and so anxious I pushed through the hard bit.

I feel they have helped hugely now.

hang in there

CheckpointCharlie2 · 20/12/2017 07:46

That's good to know jammy thanks. Am defo feeling less sick but haven't really felt any different except that I'm not panicking about being anxious but I think that started to happen before I started taking them anyway. Hard to know what to expect!

Could the Dr not give you to Escitalopram. The side effects are so much gentler. My doc said this one is far better.

hmmmmm · 20/12/2017 08:30

I haven't heard of escitalopram

Bungleboggs · 20/12/2017 08:38

It’s the same family of drug. Just has far far less side effects etc. I believe doctors are not quick to prescribe due to cost.

CheckpointCharlie2 · 20/12/2017 10:09

Thanks bungle it's settling down now but if I go up a dose and it comes back I'll ask my gp.
