Would you mention experiences of the above to a mental health professional? And if so would they just put it down to some type of mental illness?
Just wondering..

Hmm, but if a person had actually seen/interacted with beings/ god/ghosts etc then it seems to be viewed by the majority of people that a person just be having delusions or something.
It’s quite confusing; Im a logically minded person but I can’t deny what I know to be true and what has literally happened even though it sounds absurd. Idk, it’s upsetting to think that they might actually not be real because that means I’ve been imagining things since childhood. That can’t possibly happen. Someone would have noticed.
The more I think about this the more I’m feeling I should just cancel the appointment. I’m fine. It’s a bit of a mountain out of a molehill.

If you were referred in response to an arrest, it would probably be wise to go tbh. Would there be legal repercussions if you did not?

It sounds like it would be a big adjustment for you to make if it turned out that your experiences where not confirmed to be based in reality.
Although, the mind being such a powerful thing, I don't think that there is such a things a 'just' imagination - imagination is very, very real. As are other ways in which your brain can make all sorts of things seem tangible and real.

Just talk to them. Be truthful - about what happened to you and how it has been or is affecting you.

I was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia because my 'unusual belifes' were causing me distress, dysfunction and causing me to behave oddly. Lots of people believe in aliens and ghosts, but it doesn't affect their daily lives and there is nothing wrong with them.

Did your arrest have anything to do with your beliefs?

I have to say that being diagnosed with schizophrenia isn't the worst thing that can happen, although I do keep it to myself because of the stigma.

You might have psychosis. I thought I was telepathic and getting messages from spiritual beings, but that's stopped on my current medication.

Fwiw I still don't 100% believe that I'm schizophrenic and that the telepathy was mental illness.

Only a psychiatrist can diagnose you.

I'm sorry the point you are at is upsetting.

Just to say, it doesn't need to be either it is 100% real, or it is delusions. I can see that either of those explanation can have problems associated with it.

If you are interested, there are some very good talking therapies that look at making sense of unusual beliefs, and living more safely with unusual beliefs. For example, if someone has had traumatic experiences in their past, they might be more watchful and checking for threats more than other people. Or they might have sought comfort from a protective guardian angel. People can learn ways of interacting with the beings around them that help them feel safer and more in control.

Good luck x x
