Is this a symptom of bipolar?

A friend of mine is apparently bipolar, she's never told me this herself but one of her family members told me. I've known her 10 years and although I've seen her down sometimes, I've never noticed any 'manic' highs (sorry don't know the correct terminology). However, what she does do is have extreme emotions with friends. She thinks someone is the greatest person in the world for a while, and then they can quite suddenly become the most dreadful person ever.

I've seen this happen a few times and now it's happened to me. Obviously, I'm hurt that she now thinks I'm awful, but I'm trying to be compassionate if it's connected to her mental heath problems. I've left the door open for her to get back in touch if she changes her mind but I'm just wondering if this is a 'usual' symptom of bipolar or if this is some other issue that she has.

I have a bipolar diagnosis and I sometimes do this but it's 'splitting' which can be a personality disorder thing (have self diagnosed border-polar 😀), or the 'all or nothing' thinking lots of generally well people do at times.
