So as a new MNer, I read the MN acronyms today (very exciting) and found this one: CC for Controlled Crying. I have never heard of this before and was intrigued. So I JFGI (another new MN acronym) and discovered it's a way to control crying in babies.
I was really disappointed to discover this because I imagined it was a coping technique for depression and MH issues... as someone who has suffered with depression I wondered if it was some new phenomenon whereby people are encouraged to cry knowing they were in control and could stop but didn't have to if they didn't want to? Like watching Bambi on purpose or something to allow your emotions to flow if you can feel you're a little wobbly.
So I've decided to invent my own type of 'Controlled Crying' especially for emotional people like me as a means of venting every so often. Has anyone else thought during the day "I'm going to have a good cry tonight?" or am I the only person on the planet who has?
Sometimes when I'm having a bad day or if I can just feel I am extra emotional I think how nice it would be to just let it go and she'd a few tears for a while and I always feel better for it afterwards. Your body naturally releases calming and happy hormones when you cry and it also releases them in those around you because we are social creatures and respond to each others' needs. My DH always knows to give me a bug cuddle when I'm tearful, even if it's just "one of those days" and sometimes that is enough.
So there we have it folks... Controlled Crying. Let me know if it works for you.
