How do you get insignificant incidents out of your mind?

I am torturing myself over something fairly insignificant I said/did at school pick up.

My rational brain can tell me that it's so minor nobody else involved will even still be thinking about it.

The depression has me thinking things like 'I hate myself'

Does anyone else experience things like this? I just want the fact it happened out of my head.

Yes I do this all the time. Overthink everything. Do you want to share what you Said?

Yes I do exactly this

Years later I cringe at embarrassing moments that noone else would remember ( I hope)

I would love to be a different better person that dealt with life perfectly and never cocked up but that's not going to happen Hmm

I hate when this happens.

Just keep yourself busy to distract yourself from these thoughts. I know it's hard but being active tends to help me in these situations.

Sometimes, if these kind of thoughts are keeping me awake at night, I promise myself to give some thought to it in the morning. Doesn't always work, but quite often it does work.

If these thoughts are happening during the day, maybe devote some time to think about it and identify what the lesson learned is. Sometimes that's enough to get the sub-conscious to stop obsessing over it.
