I understand that it is a method of release and control when everythi g around you seems hectic and negative. Big hugs. I take it that you posted here because your not too pleased that you have done it though. Well reaching out on here was a good start.

How did you over come it last time? Did you get support from your gp? I think you should reach out.

I don't know of any myslef but have a look on Amazon for a practical self help workbook which might give you alternate actions. Meditation has worked well for my friend it the darkest moments.

As for the actual harm, do you need medical attention? If you have broken skin please clean it and dress it properly.

I have always suffered with very bad anxiety and taking ssris have really helped.

Hi Bella I found your post after searching as I also selfharmed for the first time in years tonight. I thought it would feel like a relief from all my stresses but it didn't I feel guilty and it hurts. I feel terrible my DH will see and be mad.
It's hard when things feel like they're falling apart isn't it. No advice as such just someone in the same boat.

Thank you. It's the guilt I feel for doing it, I really wish I had better coping strategies.

Sure. I took citalopram about 4 years ago when my anxiety we dominant. Then came off them after about 2 years. Now I'm on Prozac as this time the depression/ptsd was not dominant. I found them both very useful if given time. They don't work musicals but they take the edge off enough for me to look after myself and make better behaviour choices.

I'm glad you are visiting the doctor. Keep sharing with us if you want to.
