Antidepressants - Why can't I find one that works?

I've been on and off antidepressants to control my depression and anxiety since I was a teenager, but since having my daughter 2 years ago I can't seem to find one that works:

Citalopram - Gave me Migraines
Sertarline - Gave me really bad diarrhea (sorry for TMI) which didn't clear up even with immodium
Paroxetine - Made me so tired I couldn't look after DD
Fluoxetine - I had an allergic reaction to, I felt like I couldn't breathe and there was something constantly stuck in my throat. Ended up in hospital after Gaviscon didn't work
Mirtazapine - The one I'm on now. I feel constantly dizzy. If I move my head I go lightheaded, I feel like I have the flu constantly. I've only been on the tablets a week and I'm already calling the doctor to ask to come off them as the dizziness is making me aggressive and snappy with my DD.

Any idea what I can ask to go on next? I do need something as I feel down and anxious so I don't leave the house and keep DD off Nursery unnecessarily when not on them. I'm really struggling atm and will be calling my surgery first thing tomorrow.

You've listed side effects as the problem, but do you think they actually help your underlying depression? I'm also really sensitive to side effects and the only option has been trial and error. I have bipolar so take 4 different types of medication, but as far as antidepressants go, I take Agomelatine & I haven't had any side effects at all. It's a unique type of antidepressant--maybe stepping away from the usual go-to meds might help. Do you see a psychiatrist? If not, perhaps you should push your GP for a referral. In my experience, GP's can be really poor at treating psychiatric conditions beyond the normal medications.

^ this is a good response :)

See a psych if you can. My own experience is of trial and error and it's been pretty shitty, so I can empathise. Still looking for that magic pill that will make me actually feel better.
