It used to be 14, they uped the amount not that long ago to 14-21 units

Agree with the others who said that it doesn't mean you are an alcoholic but it's not doing you any good. The alcohol content of many wines these days is exceptionally high too - 12-13% is not that unusual. You won't need much of that to be over your weekly allowance.

A bottle a night is quite a lot really - how strong is the wine?

Could you try and have 2 or 3 nights off a week? I like to have a drink most nights but I try and make myself have at least 2 pref 3 nights off as I really don't want to get to the stage where I have to give up completely. I fairly regularly have a few weeks off (twice a year usually)

I do find that non-alcoholic becks is really good for those nights when you quite fancy a drink but aren't going to have one.

You say you drink because it relaxes you. Perhaps its your AD you need to be looking at.

You posting here is a really good first step to getting things back under control.
You know it's too much and it's stopping your medication from working while exacerbating your illness.
Alcohol does make things feel better but it's the mental equivalent of shoving everything into the cupboard instead of having a much needed clear out.
Eventually, everything will come tumbling out and the mess will be horrendous.
You've been brave to post this. See your GP and start getting your life back.

I very much agree with the clearing out the cupboard comment a great way too put it and too think about .
