Health Anxiety - I have Googled...

I've been OK for ages with this bloody health anxiety. Yesterday I noticed a spot on my nose for the second time in a few weeks. It's tiny, a pin prick really. Stupidly googled "spot on tip of nose" for no other reason than the fact that it recurred. And what is the very first result? Bloody Daily Fail link about the fact that a spot on the end of your nose could be cancer. DH (usually very good in talking me down) thinks I'm being daft and it's nothing. Maybe it isn't.
Would the GPs be annoyed with me for going to see them over something like this? I mean, it's basically going to them and telling them I have a spot and I am worried because I googled it.
If there's anyone on here that could give me a bit of perspective I would appreciate it. Blush

Feeling your situation, I have frequently felt similar! I would say (as I would try to say to myself) to keep an eye on it for a few days before booking an appt.

If it is something awful (extremely unlikely - although I know me saying that doesn't help!) a few days will make no difference in this case.

More likely it will resolve and you will have trained your brain just a little bit to accept that it is probably normal.

Hope that makes sense - these are the sorts of things I try to do having learned through CBT.

It does make sense, thank you. I really should get myself some CBT sorted.
And actually, the bit where you said a few days will make no difference is helpful too. If it's still here by end of next week I will get in touch with them (and ask for CBT referral at the same time.)

I am a bit PMT and if the HA coincides with PMT I find it really had to control my thoughts. Plus a hangover - post drinking mean blues are shit in your 40s!

Thank you for responding. Smile
