Can someone talk to me please?

I'm having some sort of breakdown. I've had a lot of stress over the past few months.

Basically my dad died, I split up with my fiance and I started a new stressful job. All of this in the past 3 months. I'm at breaking point.

Can someone talk to me about anything, something funny.

Evening Cranky.

Here's my outlook. Would your dad want you to spend your moments feeling like this? No. you only get so many moments on earth, make each one count. I hope you don't mind but I like this video, while some parts might not apply to you, please smile and know we all want you to break through this instead of breaking down. You are stronger than you think. An inspiration to keep going even when life doesn't seem to hold much worth. You are amazing. X

Thank you Flowers

I've been ill for a long time, I think this appointment is the confirmation that I do have bipolar 2, and I've been experiencing a low period. Where I get into a hole and I can't get out.

I wouldn't mind if it was all hypomania because I'd rule the fucking world. But nope I'd even settle for feeling just normal. No crushing lows or being hyper.

It's a little scary going to a mental health hospital, but hopefully it's not as bad as the reviews say.

Cranky,,
Sounds like we are a pair.. I am a slightly mild manic depressive, (I much prefer that to bipolar). I use Valproate Semisodium, (or Valproaic acid). I was in a pretty bad place a few days ago after a year or more staying off meds but went back on the meds on Sunday..

I can face the world at the moment..

If you want to talk about the appointment we are here. Sometimes it takes a long time to come to terms with an illness but you are taking all the right steps.

Well we talked for two hours, and she wants me to get my thyroid tested.

She definitely said I suffered from depression, but I was borderline with the hypomania side of it. I cycle pretty quickly with moods.

I'm going to get a phone call tonight or tomorrow to see what the next step is.

Thank you all for letting me babble on Flowers

Hey Cranky. That's a good first step. They will test your blood for any thyroid problems. It's really quick and easy and you'll have the results back in a few days. Good luck. X

I've just spoken to the Dr from Friday and I have been diagnosed as having bipolar 2, I'm being put on clozapine, and need to have blood tests and all sorts.

Ive looked up clozapine and it's an antipsychotic drug Confused

Hopefully it'll help and stop the crushing lows. She did say that it's a good thing that I'm aware of my moods and can tell when I'm spiralling down. She's not as concerned with the highs right now because they don't affect me in my day to day life, unlike the lows.

Thank you once again for talking to me.

Cranky,

Glad you got to se the GP and have something to work with.

One thing to be aware of is that when it comes to mental illness, the quacks can't measure what is wrong and give you a management routine like the doctors can for diabetes. It is a process of trial and repair until you find something that works.

I take Valproate Semi Sodium or Valproaic acid. One thing I like about it is that it works very fast and has a very short half life. There is none of the long lead in and very slow weaning off you have with other meds like Citralopram. Not saying what works for me would suit you, but rather to alert you to alternatives if the Clozapine doesn't work a well as you want.

Please keep posting as the meds start to work and let us know how you are getting on.
