I'm so full of anxiety after drinking heavily on Friday - I repeat this cycle over and over again and I'm sure it will eventually ruin my life

Hugs Thanks Sad
Sorry about your anxiety.
You probably already know that alcohol is a depressant, right?
Alcohol and drugs ruined my life. Please don't let it do the same to you!

I have addiction issues and I also have bipolar. Drugs and alcohol really have a negative impact on my bipolar, and vice versa!

I am not medicated for the bipolar anymore and I have refrained from drug use for over 4 years.

I do however (kind of) have a handle on the drink... As in one glass every so often. Although saying that, when I am sad or stressed it does increase my desire to drink, even though in the long run it makes things worse

i've lost count at the number of therapists i have seen. All who never made a dent, before meeting my "life coach" basically a counsellor who specialises in substance abuse who really made a difference. We basically just chat these days because everything is so in control right now.

Have a look online for a charity who could help or provide counselling?

Good luck! Always here if you want to talk Smile

Me too. After last night I have decided to knock it on the head for good. I am eating healthily, got loads of sleep and exercise all week and felt great, but I have completely ruined myself and my mood after 1 night's drinking.

I'm sure I read in a medical text book that a large majority of people with mild-moderate depression will see a complete reversal of symptoms if the stop drinking for 2 weeks.

I've dragged myself up, bathed, doing hair, will apply make up and set my 'everything is fine' face. Feeling a lot less anxious now I'm going through the motions.

Going out for Easter dinner - everyone will fully expect me to be drinking (I'm a bit famous for my love of wine :()
I'm going to try and abstain

Can you drive there? I always find that a good excuse not to drink

Wineandcheases · 28/03/2016 09:51

Did u manage not to drink ? How are you today Cake

whoopsididit · 28/03/2016 10:22

No I didn't - I did manage not to drink too much so I don't feel quite so terrible this morning.

I've downloaded a book 'the sober revolution' to help me

Thanks for checking on me X
