Does anyone have any advice on SJW? I'm thinking of giving it a go, I've had AD's in the past and I put on over a stone and now the depression has reared it's ugly little head I need something but I hav'nt shifted the weight and I don't want to pile on more! Has anyone used it? Does it work ? Is it good? Thank you for any advice

It can help, but only with mild to moderate depression. It can also interact with other medication, including the contraceptive pill and some epilepsy medication, so if you're taking anything else it would be best to check with your GP before starting SJW.

If you decide to give it a go, the tincture (liquid form) is more effective and kicks in more quickly than the tablets. I didn't find it particularly effective, although my depression at the time was pretty severe so it was probably not the right treatment at the right time.

I have found it good. My GP said it is as good as mild ads. As wwb said it messes with some prescription drugs though. You certainly don't pile on the weight with it which is good (although if you started over Xmas I suppose you might )and I haven't noticed any other nasty side effects. I suppose it might be worth a try, if your depression isn't too severe. Good luck.

Thank you for the advice I'm going to give it a go as I'm just down and weepy and stressed and no way as bad as before! I'm sure I'll pile on some pounds over the next couple of weeks but who won't

if your depression isn't as bad as before the SJW might just make it more manageable, so that it doesn't deteriorate I guess

I don't really know much about depression or how it develops so not sure if that's a load of codswallop, but it's worth a go

Hi there, I've been taking St Johns Wort now for over a month (apparently how long its supposed to take to kick in) I noticed that I felt calmer during crises after about 2 weeks. (or at least i used to think they were crisis whilst depressed)

Although, i think the time u take them matters. Or at least it did for me, I was taking them in the evening (like i had read other ppl take Ad's in the evening) but i noticed that i was getting a few hours in the day (lunchtime) where i felt my old unmotivated self again. I have now been taking them first thing in the morning and have had no such slump again.

My gf is going to try SJW now after a friend recommended it

Apparently the capsules of 300mg 0.3% hypercitin (or something sounding like that) is the one to go for and 3 capsules a day with meals

She got results after 2-3 weeks she said but apparantly like has been said can take 2-3 months even
