Finding a hypnotherapist in London

Hi all,

I am posting under a different name.

I was looking into finding a hypnotherapist for myself in London for my OCD.

I have tried quite a few things including anti depressants and Cognitive behavioural therapy but they haven't helped. I thought I might give hypnotherapy a try, because I have nothing to lose.

I am in London, and was hoping that you might know or be able to recommend someone for hypnotherapy or hypnosis for OCD in London.

There are so many hypnotherapists and I have emailed so many, had so many responses but I find it hard to start with who to go with or choose. I will ring and speak to them properly over the phone, but with so many questions & explaining my symptoms I only want to ring a few. I also need to choose the right person, due to it being so expensive.

I also was just wondering about the hypnotherapy itself, did anyone feel vunerable if it was a man hypnotherapist?

I have read some old threads on here that have been helpful - any help or information would be great. Smile

Thankyou greatly

Bumping for you OP - I had hypnotherapy in brighton so that doens't help you at all! But there must be someone here who has tried it in London!!

thankyou RNBrie Smile

May I ask if you found the hypnotherapy useful and worked for what you wanted?

Nope - not in the slightest Grin. It was quite nice though!

I saw a counsellor in London who uses a more existential and philosophical approach - I found CBT didn't help me at all. I thought he was brilliant and we resolved most of my more destructive behaviours - I'm in an infinitely better place now. I would recommend him in a heartbeat although I'm not sure if he has any experience with OCD behaviours - he's more of an expert in addictions.

Anyway - I recommend ringing a couple of the hypnotherapists you've found and seeing how you feel about them. That's how I found my counsellor, I think I called three and I knew straight away that I felt more comfortable speaking to the guy I chose in the end.

Bonitta Rayners-Jones helped my husband immensely. He had OCD and panic attacks. It took a few sessions but it worked.

TheCokeMachine and RNBrie - thankyou ever so much. I will look her up now.

I too found that CBT just didn't work for me. Both time I felt like I just didn't connect to either. Thanks for the advice, will definitely be ringing a few of them today.Smile

I would highly recommend Stuart Thompson hypnotist for hypnotherapy sessions. He works well with anxiety problems. I was stressed and he worked with me using hypnosis and NLP and changed that for me. He is not in London, but not far, it's worth taking a look at his website.

Hi all - thankyou all evert so much for your help before

I spoke to a hypnotherapist yesterday who is quite well known. He is not near to me & does alot of skype work & would see me via skype.

Do you think that someone skype hypnotising you could work as well as face to face? I feel wary to pay alot of money for skype hypnotherapy rather than face to face (more than usual price of hypnotherapy).

I don't know whether to go with him as I know as what he does in person works, but I wonder about how good it is over skype? I worry to pay alot for it not to help at all.

Any help or advice or info if you would do it over skype or have done would be great. am needing some words of advice.

thankyou :)
