Hi girls. I had my presentation today and it went ok but as soon as the tutor called my name i started to shake and sweat. Now i know most people get nervous in situations like this, but my sweating problems happen if i just pop to tesco. it's really getting me down. will i always be resorted to wearing black tops?
do u think stronger AD's will stop the social sweating? i am currently taking escitalopram 10mg. it doesn't seem to stop the social sweating at all. do i need a stronger AD or a different one? someone posted last night about maybe a stronger AD, anyone else have the same problem?
any advice appreciated.

Poor you I haven't any personal experience but my sister has panic attacks when she goes anywhere crowded and takes beta blockers. Not sure if they would help, or you might have already tried them?

alexa1 · 22/11/2006 20:19

Lucy - thanks for replying. I can't use beta blockers because i have asthma. this is why i was prescribed AD's, plus i do suffer with depression too.

Hi alexa1, I used to have severe social phobia (up until 5yrs ago).

I was housebound for a lot of the time, as being
around people would literally bring me out in a
cold sweat (i'm talking visable beads of sweat here)

I began taking 20mg of Prozac & I felt like a new woman! Came off all AD's when pregnant, & as i'm still b.feeding my dd (she's 2.6 now
was loathed start taking them when I began to feel bad again. After seeing GP, have been put on an AD which will have no effect on my b.feeding dd & I feel good again.
Keep your chin up, it's a bloody hard slog but you'll get back on track, go see Gp again ASAP.

what AD are you on adorabelle?

On Sertraline alexa1, think we're both on the
same threads tonight

Hi alexa1. I have just started taking escitalopram 10mg and my gp told me one of the side effects could be sweating! This may be exacerbating your existing difficulty. Just a thought...may be worth ringing the gp.
