Just wanted to ask others about their experience with 'alternative' remedies to depression, as I am not ready to go down the AD route. I have been taking kalms for about a week and am finding them really effective. A friend has also suggested bach's rescue remedy - anyone got any opinions/experience?

Also wondering if anyone has tried the sleep version of kalms and if any good? Or any other products people recommend?

thanks

I took Sainsbury's own brand stress relief tablets (containing Echinacea) when my Dad was dying. They took the edge off how I was feeling. I also tried Rescue Remedy - not much difference between the 2 for me. But feeling a bit down/stressed is very different from true depression.
I would say that if Kalms are working for you then you're probably not actually clinically depressed, but would benefit from talking to someone about your feelings.
Do you have one particular issue that is bothering you? Or 'just' the pressures of looking after young children? Do you have an understanding partner or good friend you can talk to about how you feel?
Things are always much worse if you bottle them up and keep them to yourself.

I don't think I have seen any difference using Bach Rescue Remedy, even for superficial things but works a treat on my dogs during fireworks season.

Have not tried Kalms, if you are going the alternative route, careful with St. Johns wort. I have never been so aggresive in my life as during the 2 weeks I used it, so it's not for everyone.

I often take a few drops of rescue remedy when I'm feeling stressed/tired/anxious or any of the other symptons drepression throws at me and find it very helpful. I like rescue remedy as it comes in v handy hand/nappybag friendly bottle so I can take with me anywhere, take a couple of drops any time I need to and it makes a difference to my mood v quickly. I haven't tried any of the Kalms range but hear they are good.

Thanks guys.

Just feeling a bit low. Not sure why. Seem to always be anxious but not sure why. Was crying a lot last week but once started on kalms feel well...more calm really. Quite suprised about the difference actually and have been able to get some sleep too.

Health visitor coming over wed as scored 14 on edinburgh test a couple of weeks ago. So not a bad score, but not that good either! Its ok tho I got the nice HV.

I would agree with Floatinginthemoonlitsky- can't promise it's the product that works or the psychological effect taking it has on me but it always seems to have the right effect which is the important thing. If Kalms has been helping you sleep then that's great- lack of proper sleep in almost always a contributing factor in any low days I have. Hope you soon feel back on track Becky
I also find a couple of drops of rescue remedy helpful when slipped in my dd's drink if she's been a little overly tired and unable to wind down
