Things are getting to me today

Just started ADs for PND.
dd is 9months old, cutting her top teeth and suffering from a virus.
Her temp keeps spiking despite Calpol, but it's under control most of the time.
She's been screaming now virtually constantly since 9am (now 1pm).
I'm bf her every hour or so and am in tears myself now.
Normally I'm able to cope, but this is getting difficult.

Just looking for a bit of the famous MN community support...please?

Need to be quick as my 8mth old is screaming too, sending lots of empathy and hugs your way.

Can you take her out for a walk or a drive in the car? Just to give you a break and change of scenery?

been out a while ago to walk dog, unforunately it's now heaving it down with rain.
Keep hoping she'll doze off and i can put her in her cot

Have you tried Medised instead of Calpol? Knocks my two out hours....

Also, and this may sound harsh, put baby in another room to cry for even 5mins and go stand in the garden. My psychologist told me to do this as ive had pnd after all my pg's. Gave me time to gather my thoughts and soldier on.

will try that.
thanks

Have you got ibruprofen? you can use that as well as calpol it's good at keeping temps down. Sorry didn't read your OP fully last time as ds was cross and just wanted you to know there was someone out here, has she settled any yet?

lulumama · 08/11/2006 13:59

(((((((hugs)))))) tis horrible............when did you start with the ADs?

is there a friend/ neighbour/ relative who can pop in for an hour to give you a break? if it wasn't for the PND you KNOW you would be fine and coping...don;t be hard on yourself....teethng poorly children test everyones patience....

Thanks everybody for earlier support.
Rain went off so I plonked moaning minnie in her pram and sallied forth to the chemist.
dd smiled and gurgled for the chemist (typical!!), and I am now in posession of baby Brufen.
This has been deployed to stunning effect and dd is now zonked out in her cot !!!!
I have had a bacon buttie and a bit of chocolate and am feeling human again!

I have only been on AD's for a few days, so it will be a while till they kick in.
dd been poorly for 3 days now, just been getting worried
dh home at 6.30, so not long to go.

Big, big thanks again to you all for support!
