I'm looking for all kinds of mindfulness resources so I can recommend them to people in my work - CDs, books, apps, websites etc.

Anyone care to share resources that you've tried and liked? I've got an iphone so I can only road test iPhone apps, so I'd be particularly grateful for recommendations for apps for non-apple phones.

I'll start:

My very favourite is headspace.com which has a free 10 day course of 10 minutes per day. I like the non-hippieness of the content and I find the guy's voice easy to listen to. So often the voice or accent puts me off! However, the downside is that you have to subscribe for further content after 10 days which not all my clients can afford to do (although, you can use the free ten days as many times as you like).

I've also got an app on my iPhone called Mindfulness Daily which prompts me to have 'mindful moments' four times a day, and so encourages integrating mindfulness into your daily life. There are formal meditations within the app but I haven't tested them out yet.

Finally, not strictly mindfulness, but Andrew Jonson's relaxation/sleep apps are great. He also has a meditation app, but I've not tried it yet.

So anyone got any more?

Thanks

Mindfulness: finding peace in a frantic work

Oh good, I'm glad you said that! I've got it on kindle, but not read as yet and I keep getting asked for recommendations.

I'm also liking the look of an app called Buddhify. It appears to have meditations to match different activities like walking to work or waiting.

Don't have any recommendations but watching with interest. Dd1's paediatrician recommended mindfulness app to help her sleep and relax but didn't give name of app just that it cost £2.65 but haven't been able to find that one and there are so many that I don't know which one to download.

TwoLittleBlooms Andrew Johnson does three apps for children here. That link is for the MP3 versions but you can search for it in the app store or Play store or whatever.

My DS(9) has used the sleep one and liked it until he lost his iPod Hmm

I'm not on commission, I promise!

Thankyou for this :)

I still can't get my head round what it actually is!

The Christiene Keer CDs for children are good (not entirely sure if that's how to spell her name) but they're on Amazon. Puts my 2 year old to sleep if he's being bouncy!

Might be Christiane Kerr

Thanks Clarella Smile

I've also had an app/website called Smiling Mind recommended to me. It has different programmes for different age groups from 7-adult but I'm having some log in trouble on my phone so I can't try it out! It looks nice though.

I use the android app Qi Gong, it's free and I use the 3 minute relaxation audio at least once a day. There is also a fantastic sleep audio too.

Ocho · 29/04/2015 21:03

Great, thanks DameDiazepam

Agree with springismyfavourite's recommendation for frantic world.
I would add Meditation Oasis podcasts. They are free guided meditations. There are loads to choose from and though not the same as the straight mindfulness based meditations, they do encourage breath-watching, and other mindfulness techniques alongside other visualisations which may be helpful. You can search the website, or download via iTunes or I have them on my iPhone podcast app.
Also, the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn. Again, search on youtube, there are lots of guided meditations as well as lectures and talks that he has presented. x
