Husbands OCD is really bad and we can't carry on like this - are "NoPanic" support group/website any good?

Just found them one line, sorry I don't know how to link but they are based in the Midlands. I think they offer support including telephone appointments teaching mindfulness and cognitive behaviour therapy.

They charge a yearly fee of £15 plus £10 per session for the telephone appointments. Are they legit? Are they any good.

My husband suffers from OCD and we are having a really bad time at the moment. He's had an awful panic attack tonight , was banging his head against the wall and ranting. We need help from somewhere. I don't know what to do.

Has he been to his gp? They can refer for cbt, and doesn't't take that long.

StormyLovesOdd · 27/04/2015 21:19

Yeah, he has had OCD for years, the GP has referred him for help and he has had the initial assessment appointment but we are still wait for the actual appointments. Can't take much more of this.

I was close to ringing the mental health emergency team tonight. We have a 7 year old and he was ranting and panicking, banging his head on the wall and stuff all whilst she was in bed. Thank god she slept through it and he has calmed down now. I didn't know what to do.

I would ring the crisis team

StormyLovesOdd · 27/04/2015 21:28

I told him I was going to and he managed to get it under control, all is calm now but I know it will happen again if nothing changes.

What happens when you ring the crisis team?

They come out and asses you, I was voluntarily sectioned for two weeks. They are very helpful. I had calmed down by the time they came, but I still needed urgent help.

Anti depressants can be very effective for OCD but I would agree with a crisis team appt as the AD's take time to work

DH already takes fluxotine, has done for years, regularly sees the GP but he has been slowly getting worse over the years and it's really spiked lately.

I want to help him get better but I don't know how much more of this I can take.

Stormy, there are also a few charities who support ODC sufferers and their families so it might be worth your liaising with them if you need advice or support.
