Someone recommended this book by 'David D Burns, M.D. and it is really good so far.
I works on the CBT principals. The only thing is I am supposed to do the little mini assignments in the book which I am not doing. I just want to read the book.
Anyway, just wanted to recommend it. I have spent most of the day reading it. I bought it from amazon. It helps to overcome depression, and conquer anxiety and panic attacks.
Has anyone read it?

Why dont you want to do the exercises?

I have used this book a lot - i have been greatly helped by CBT for a number of big (for me) issues - divorce, depression, procrastination and addictive behaviour.

Burns himself, in 10 days to Self-Esteem (naff misleading title, but excellent content in my view..) even has exercises on not wanting to do the exercises! CBT Homework is pretty essential - those that have benefitted from this type of therapy, through self or a therapist, do say that DOing the work is the key. Those that dont continue with the methods are those that begin to feel worse again as irrationalities and cognitive distortions creep back in and take root again.

I too recommend this book.

I agree squidette and Burns does recommend u do the exercises. The problem is, I am so busy doing a course at college and looking after a 4 yr old and 1 year old and the only luxury I have is coming on here in my spare time. I just don't seem to have time anymore.
