I'm 18 seem to have posted a lot recently but it's all that seems to help while I wait my councilling, I har bad anxiety! Everyday feels a struggle always feel I'm going to stop breathing constantly feeling uncomfortable and like there's something wrong with me, everything feels like it's not real? Feel like I can't breath in my nose properly yet I clearly am! I have a little boy he's 10 months I'm just so fed up with feeling like this! I feel hopeless

You won't always feel this way, I promise. I have been where you are regarding anxiety and I've come through it. So have many others. But it is horrible so keep posting if you need support.

Have you tried mindfulness techniques?

Hi lauren
I have no experience but my daughter is suffering badly at the moment. She has suffered the same way as you for 2 years on and off, ever since she saw her sister have an epileptic fit. She is 25
At the moment she cannot make herself go into shops, and even finds visiting friends difficult. It's heartbreaking to watch,
She says she feels nothing feels real and she feels like she is on another planet, is this how you feel?
She is paying privately to see a psychotherapist as the mental health support here is pants. The GP just wanted to put her on anti depressants which made her worse,
I honestly don't know the answer but wish you all the best, you are so young to be suffering like this Thanks

gertrude
Would you mind explaining mindfulness technique? I've not heard of this

laurenlow14 · 21/03/2015 08:09

I've never heard of mindfulness technique either, thanks so much just don't want to be like this anymore! And yes dozy donut that is exactly how I feel! Mine all started after a big fall out and move from my parents when my little boy was 3 weeks old seems to just be getting worse the AD made me worse too! I feel exactly like that, like I'm not on the planet, everyday I wake just hoping to feel different but I dont:(

I would like to give you my daughters email address if she agrees, would you be ok with that? I think it may be a good thing for her to chat to someone who feels the same. She thinks shes the only one suffering from this.

laurenlow14 · 21/03/2015 09:21

That would be great for me ! Always think I'm insane and the only one too

Mindfulness is excellent and really works once you are well enough to access it. Google it - there are lots of self help sites and apps plus your GP may be able to refer you.

laurenlow14 · 21/03/2015 10:35

I'm I just never knew anxiety could do this to you!

Yes google mindfulness. There are many resources. I would also recommend ACT, which is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Both have roots from Buddhist thinking -not fighting your suffering (anxiety) but accepting it and still living the life you want. But don't be put off by the Buddhist reference.

Amazon has some good books on mindfulness and ACT. Jon Kabat Zinn, Mark Williams, Russ Harris, Kelly Wilson are good authors IMO.

Best wishes Flowers
