NHS Psychologists and Gp records

I was wondering if my NHS psychologist, secondary care, would have computer access to all my medical records?
My next appointment isn't for another 10 days so I can't ask till then and I'm quite impatient!

They're unlikely to have anything from Primary Care, no. There's no integrated system.

no they wouldn't but they could ring the GP for a discussion about your care and would be allowed to discuss your wider record if the GP thought relevant.

I work in NHS in primary care, just left working for mental health team and one of the biggest things I do is request records from GP's and previous care teams as there are so many different systems out there. So unless they have requested them then no is the short answer.

I know she often writes to my GP but my concern is that I will be having treatment for something that I don't really want to focus on in our sessions so I just wondered if she would already be aware via computer records. Amazing if there is no integrated system - seems bizarre but in this instance would be a good thing.

She would have to request that info from the GP. You can request that your GP refuses access to that particular info - would have to be done in writing.

There are Summary Care Records now, not sure that psychologist would have access to them but a hospital would, they're not very comprehensive. They consist of current problems, medications & allergies.

You can opt out of summary care record sharing btw, ask your GP surgery for a form.

Thank you all.
