I have been suscribed a different type of AD and what I want to know, is whether anyone has been prescribed an AD and reacted well to it early on (rather than the 4-6 weeks) and then it stopped working with a month

Thanks for any reply

yes citalopram immediately did and sertraline a bit.
citalopram was good at the beginning but later on it made me very tired, I didn't like it anymore. also put on weight with it.

Mirtazapine stopped working for me but that was about 6 months in. I would expect a dosage to be upped within a month - maybe that's what's needed?

The doctor has upped it and now prescribed an anti physcotic (sp)

But this is now the second type of AD that this has happened. Treatment resistant depression is being batted around, but it wouldn't work at all in this case.

I think that sometimes we think the meds aren't "working" when it is just the MH issue that is the problem, as meds aren't a "cure all" - far from it as many of us know. I have had fluctuations in my depression for 5 years even though I've been on ADs (and for the past 2 years 2 different ADs) and a change of one of the meds last summer, but I still get the fluctuations, so I don't know really......and it's all so "hit and miss" with meds isn't it, as what suits one doesn't suit another.

Not sure what you mean about treatment resistant depression is being batted around but "it wouldn't work in this case." Usually they consider ECT as a last resort for treatment resistant depression.
